Tosswill House
A multi-level home built above an existing concrete block garage, which now forms its basement — keeping the rear of the section open.
The section already held an older house at the rear and a concrete block garage at the front. The new home sits above that garage, which now serves as its basement — keeping the rear of the property open for garden and outdoor space.
A single roof plane lifts across the living spaces to a run of clerestory windows, drawing light deep into the plan. Cedar cladding and built-in timber joinery carry through inside and out, and the main living area opens onto a deck that steps down to the lawn.
The structure is a Potius panelised system — floor, wall and roof panels manufactured in Nelson and erected on site. Cladding, roofing, windows and the complete interior fit-out followed, along with demolition of the original house and landscaping to the rear.
